LA MACARENA MOUNTAINOUS RANGE AND CAÑO CRISTALES STREAM

La Macarena Natural Reserve is a bio-geographic complex unique of its kind, its flora and animal life blend characteristic aspects of both the Amazon and Orinoco regions:
 This zone is located in the South West of the department of Meta, close to the eastern range of the Andes. It occupies approximately 1.131.350 hectares, with an average annual temperature oscillating, depending on altitude, between 12º C and 25º C.

LA MACARENA MONTAIN RANGE / CAÑO CRISTALES STREAM 4 DAYS/3 NIGHTS – FROM/TO BOGOTÁ SCHEDULE: DAILY FREQUENCY FROM 1 PERSON ONWARDS

DAY 1:  BOGOTÁ – VILLAVICENCIO – MACARENA
At around 3:00 am the overland trip from Bogota begins. It is a 3-4 hour journey, first climbing along theeatern chain of the Andes, then descending towards Villavicencio, the capital city of the department of Meta.  On arrival, transfer to the airport and flight to the Macarena mountain range, landing on a grass runway.  After an agreeable breakfast, a visit will be made to the place’s surroundings.
Full pension, spending the night in the encampment and sleeping in a hammock.

DAY 2: MACARENA – CAÑO CRISTALES
After an agreeable breakfast, departure in direction of Caño Cristales, a place of indescribable beauty, with cascades and lakes of crystalline waters.
Hike through the region, time to take photos, to bathe and rest. Lodging in Caño Cristales encampment. Overnight in hammocks.

DAY 3:  CAÑO CRISTALES – MACARENA
After an agreeable breakfast, we continue making hikes along this region, located  in the middle of extraordinarily enchanting flora and animal life. Then return by boat to La Macarena. In the afternoon possibility to  sunbathe, swim or rest. Overnight in the Macarena encampment.

DAY 4: MACARENA – VILLAVICENCIO – BOGOTÁ
After an agreeable breakfast, hike to La Cachivera, where a boat will be waiting to take us to La Macarena. From here the journey continues, this time in a turbine aircraft back to Villavicencio. Overland to Bogota and transfer to the hotel or airport.

INCLUDED SERVICES: Transfers from/to Bogota; flights Villavicencio – Macarena – Villavicencio. Two -2-  nights in an encampment located near La Macarena. 1 night in Caño Cristales encampment sleeping in hammocks; full pension. English speaking nature-expert travel guide. Trips and excursions as mentioned in the program, entrance permits and fees to the National Park. Refreshing beverages during hikes crossings.
